Taekwondo is the Korean version of Karate and Kickboxing; it is based on an ancient form of unarmed combat practised for many centuries in the Orient. Taekwondo became perfected in its present form in Korea.
Translated from Korean, “Tae” literally means to jump, kick or smash with the foot. “Kwon” means a fist- chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist. “Do” means art, way or method. Taekwondo uses techniques of unarmed combat for self-defence, involving the skilled application of punches, kicks, blocks, dodges and interceptions with the hands, arms and feet to rapidly defeat an opponent.

My children started training with Andy Mole's Tae Kwon Do club 17 years ago. The school is a remarkable learning environment and Andy is a dedicated, committed, compassionate & highly skilled trainer who manages to get the best out of every pupil. The mix of rigorous discipline, strenuous physical activity, fun & laughter, and learning complex moves, is the perfect anti-dote to modern day stressors. Although the outcomes are well defined as each student moves through the challenges of grading for progressive belt, there are so many other benefits that include physical fitness, strength, flexibility, mental discipline, hard work & perseverance. Unlike many sports that reward only the naturally gifted, this allows every adult & child to progress at their own speed in a supportive & safe environment.
